Special event fundraisers allow Special Olympics West Virginia to generate a great deal of public awareness and funding for our mission.
These fundraisers include traditional events such as walks/runs and golf tournaments, and also some very innovative fundraisers, such as a Polar Plunges, Craft & Cornhole Tournaments and Pigskin Madness — just to name a few.

What is a Polar Plunge?
A Polar Plunge is a unique fundraising opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to support Special Olympics WV by jumping or running into a cold body of water in the middle of winter.
Join thousands of people who will make a splash for Special Olympics by participating in our Polar Plunges taking place all over West Virginia.

New for Fall 2020!
Join us this football season for our newest FUNdraiser – Pigskin Madness
Operated as a raffle or sweepstakes, the Pigskinz fundraiser is a game of chance. Tickets have 4 randomly selected professional football teams for each of the 17 weeks of regular season play. At the end of every week all 4 scores are added together, and several tickets with the highest (and optionally lowest) total scores win prizes.

The Special Olympics West Virginia Golf Classic is widely regarded as one of the best golf events in the state.
The tournament traditionally sells out, and participating golfers not only have the chance to enjoy a round of golf but also observe a clinic conducted by a well-known golf professional and then have the opportunity to visit with the pro throughout the day. Among the golf pros who have participated in the tournament include Lydia Ko, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Mark O’Meara, Raymond Floyd, Nancy Lopez, and Charles Howell III.
Toyota completely underwrites the expense of the tournament so all proceeds go directly to Special Olympics West Virginia. This event is typically the largest annual fundraising event for the organization, and over the years has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support Special Olympics West Virginia athletes.

Why is fundraising so important to Special Olympics WV?
Registered athletes are never asked to pay a fee of any kind to participate in Special Olympics.
Everything is provided for them including athletic uniforms, awards, sports training and competition facilities, coaches’ education, transportation and much more through fundraising efforts.
